While both PVC stretch film and rubber are soft and elastic, they are completely different materials. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a member of the plastics family, achieving its softness through plasticizers; rubber, on the other hand, is a natural or synthetic elastomer, primarily composed of polyisoprene. Just as cotton and wool both provide warmth, their origins and structures are vastly different.
Each Has Its Own Strengths in Application Scenarios
PVC stretch film: Commonly used in advertising light boxes, waterproof membranes, and furniture films. Its advantages lie in its rich colors and lower cost.
Rubber products: Primarily used in tires, seals, and shock-absorbing pads. Its characteristics include high-temperature resistance and good resilience.
Overlapping Areas: Some rain boots and gloves are made using a composite of both materials.
Choose Based on Actual Needs
Want an economical decorative material? PVC stretch film is more suitable. Need to withstand repeated stretching and deformation? Rubber is a better choice. The two also differ in chemical resistance and environmental friendliness; it is recommended to consider the specific usage environment. Interestingly, PVC/rubber composite materials are now available that can combine some of these properties.
